The Coach House

Nestled in the heart of the Waterford Greenway and Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford, lies Coach House Coffee - a haven for your senses. Located at the historic Famine Workhouse development, our cafe draws inspiration from the area’s rich industrial heritage.

Kilmacthomas, the midway point of the Greenway, sits picturesquely on the banks of the Mahon River. In the 1870s, the village witnessed the arrival of the Waterford to Mallow railway, leaving its mark with an eight-arch stone viaduct that still stands today. This industrial influence is reflected in our cafe’s unique design.

While passenger trains ceased service in the 1960s, the railway line found new life as a scenic Greenway. Today, a 46km stretch offers cyclists and walkers a chance to explore the captivating beauty of Co. Waterford. Lush green landscapes, the majestic Comeragh Mountains, and breathtaking coastlines unfold alongside historical feats of engineering like bridges and tunnels.

At the heart of it all lies Coach House Coffee, conveniently located at the 23km mark. Park at the Workhouse and hop on the Greenway, heading east towards Waterford City or west towards the stunning coastline of Clonea and Dungarvan town.
